Triage Trip: September 21 - 30, 2012

Location
Quiche region of Guatemala where we run outreach clinics.

Trip Description
The primary objective is to find surgical candidates who are then scheduled for surgery with either the next Project HANDS surgical team or other volunteer surgical teams. Patients with non-surgical conditions are offered primary care treatment where possible.

Most of our patients are Mayan and from the poorest segment of society who have little access to medical care. For these trips we work closely with our affiliate Partner for Surgery who organizes all the ground logistics and local staff.

Team Composition
   •   3 physicians ideally with General surgery, gynecology and family practice experience
   •   A nurse or experienced non-medical person to oversee pharmacy and
        other back up services
